Generally we recommend using 98RON fuel for the later model engines, engines with higher performance, higher compression and super/turbocharged engines.
The reason is because the octane level of a fuel is proportional to its anti-knock/detonation quality or resistance to detonation. Engine detonation occurs when the air/fuel mixture burns in an uncontrollable manner, which will eventually damage the engine depending on the degree of the burst. Therefore the 98 octane fuel is more resistant to knock than 92.
Most car manufacturers specify the minimum petrol octane requirement for their cars given the cars will be driven in a generally acceptable manner, especially for the automatic ones, the slower take-up of the automatic transmission puts less load on the engine and staves off engine detonation. In cars with manual transmission, unless you accelerate very hard, running on 95 RON petrol is very, very safe.
Having said this though, we can tune to suit any fuel you wish to use.
