We recommend fitting a new crankshaft if you are re-building your engine and the big ends need to be ground undersize due to wear/scuffing or scratching of the journal surfaces.
We have seen a number of crankshaft failures on crankshafts that have been ground undersize on the big end journals. Due to the design of the 90 degree V6 engine each pair of big end journals are slightly offset to each other to smooth out the firing order, unfortunately due to this design, when the journals are ground underside this tends to weaken the crankshaft which isn't desirable on a performance engine build.
