Although both engines use the same block, adapting an M90 supercharger to an Ecotec motor is not as easy as it sounds, although it is possible and has been done before. The L67 consists of a stronger bottom end with a lower compression ratio which can be used with an L67 top end in a low boost application. We recommend doing a complete engine replacement as it is much easier, cheaper in the long run and less time consuming. Complete second hand motors can be sourced for anywhere between $1000-$2500 depending on kilometers and condition.
The following list outlines the main components required in order to replace the Ecotec items to fit an M90 supercharger to an Ecotec bottom end:
- L67 heads
- L67 inlet manifold
- L67 rocker covers
- Larger fuel pump and varying fuel controller, with 8psi higher fuel pressure (not essential but recommended)
- L67 cooling system
- L67 intake tube that runs to the air box, from the throttle body
- L67 wiring loom for your model and/or Mace memcal to suit conversion
- Alternator wiring where the loom plugs into the back is in a different position so it does not short on the blower
- L67 accelerator and cruise cable
- L67 coils
- L67 leads
- L67 heat shield on starter motor
- L67 fuel rails
- M90 supercharger (complete including all vacuum hoses)
- Supercharger elbow
- L67 harmonic balancer, idler and tensioner pulleys.
- Extra belt for supercharger
There is even more to this list but this is the bare minimum we recommend for a low-boost application.
