Good to see the Holden 5L are still going strong :) I would be more inclined to think that it would be the oil seal in the timing cover that would be the problem. Unless there was a grove worn into the balancer causing it to leak .The leak can be possiblystopped.
My V8 - although 22 years old - has only 160,000 Kms. No harmonic balance noise, just the oil leak around it. Could the oil leak be due to a faulty or worn out seal or gasket on the balancer? And would your standard OEM balancer stop the leak around this
