The reason is the 5 speed auto is quite rare in the GM family, hence
no one has bothered to develop software for it.
Yes, the later the VE model the more positive effect it will have.
For example it can get rid of the torque management all together and
fully control the 6-speed auto's, depending on the application (bolts
on, cam boost).

The greater the amount of data samples the more accurate the info
will be.
Ideally you would want to cover all driving conditions including
stop/start, cruising (low/high throttle percentages), acceleration and
deceleration hot and cold engine etc.
